Veterinarian Overview
Dr. Jolene C. Kern is an emergency clinician who became part of the VREC team in 2016. She grew up in Northeastern Pennsylvania and recently returned to be around family. Dr. Kern has known her entire life that she wanted to work with animals. She has worked in veterinary hospitals since she was in high school, and developed a love for the ER while working as a technician. She graduated from St. Georges University, School of Veterinary Medicine, in 2013. Dr. Kerns professional interests include the human animal bond, emergency and critical care, and avian medicine. Dr. Kern is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, Association of Avian Veterinarians, and Pennsylvania Veterinary Medical Association. Dr. Kern resides with her fiancé Matt, two beagles, three parrots, and has a salt-water aquarium. Her personal interests include traveling, snorkeling, being with family, and of course, spending time with her pets!
