Veterinarian Overview
Since the Bay Area was his origin, it was a given that W.H. Bentham would return to Fremont after his graduation from the School of Veterinary Medicine at Colorado State University in 1960. Here he joined his father, who had been practicing at Central Veterinary Hospital in Fremont since 1959. Dr. Bentham has been at this location continuously for over 40 years, where he initiated the concept of 24-hour care for hospitalized pets in the area. Primary interests in pet medicine include surgery, dermatology and pet weight control.Dr. Bentham has an avid interest in horses, especially in the sport of endurance riding of 50-100 miles. As past president of the American Ride Conference, a national organization dedicated to the sport, he continues to ride, judge and evaluate horses in competition and on trail rides. When not on a horse, he enjoys history, fishing and other outdoor activities.As director of Central Veterinary Hospital, he wants to continue the historic tradition to provide the most compassionate medical care for our clients.
