Veterinarian Overview
Dr. Jessica Melman Bhatia joined Park Animal Hospital in March 2014. She is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and her professional interests include dermatology and internal medicine. Originally from outside Washington, DC, Dr. Bhatia is the daughter and granddaughter of veterinarians. It was growing up at both her father's and grandfather's veterinary hospitals, as well as all her beloved childhood pets, that nurtured her love of veterinary medicine. Dr. Bhatia earned her Bachelor's degree in Animal Sciences from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine. She also received a small business degree from University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School. Following veterinary school, Dr. Bhatia completed an internship in small animal medicine and surgery in New York City. She says she finds "the ability to heal animals while witnessing and helping to foster the strong bond between people and their pets" the most satisfying aspect of her career. She also serves as a Veterinary Consultant to DermaZoo and OtoPet-USA. She was Director of Veterinary and Technical Services for DermaPet until its sale to Dechra Veterinary Services. Dr. Bhatia's personal interest include running, cooking, writing, traveling and mostly spending time with her husband, Neil, her daughter, Leia, and her son, Cade, as well as her Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Quincy
