Veterinarian Overview
Kevin received his degree from Michigan State University in 1981. After short stints in L.A. and Aspen, Colorado, he came to Tahoe in 1984. He and Dr Doering have been business partners since 1987. While enjoying the wide variety of challenges in practicing general medicine, he has special interests in surgery, especially knee (stifle) surgery. He has received advanced training and certification to perform the TPLO (Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy) surgery for ruptured cruciate ligaments. Kevin gets great satisfaction from improving the quality of life of his patients and providing pets and their owners with a lengthy and rewarding bond. When away from the office, Kevin is an avid cyclist and can usually be found racing one of his bikes on his days off. In the winter Kevin is part of the National Ski Patrol at Sierra at Tahoe. Other hobbies include creating stained glass panels. For over 30 years he has volunteered his time as the resident veterinarian at Lake Tahoe Wildlife Care. LTWC raises, rehabilitates and releases over 800 injured and orphaned wild animals each year. He also serves on the Board of Directors. Kevin, his wife Sonja and his daughter Casey (currently at UCSB) are never alone at home. They share space with their dogs Kip and Tug, cats Cheese, Dude and Zoomy, horses Chip and Tongo, snakes Fuego and Jack, and Lazy the ferret.
