Veterinarian Overview
Dr. Kinnes pre-veterinary school interest in veterinary medicine developed growing up in rural Columbia County, New York. The county was full of farm and companion animals and her first jobs involved working with animals particularly dogs, cats and horses. Her undergraduate work was done at the University of Vermont where she earned a Bachelors of Science degree in Animal Sciences. From there she continued onto Purdue University School of Veterinary Medicine to earn her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree. Prior to becoming a share holder at the Colonie Animal Hospital Hospital, in 1997, she worked for a very busy small animal practice in the Capital District and did several years of work as a relief veterinarian. In practice, she enjoys treating and interacting with her dog and cat patients. She particularly enjoys small animal internal medicine and challenging feline patients. Learning about different modalities of pain control is a new and growing interest.
