Veterinarian Overview
Dr. Cooperman was born in New York City and raised in Long Island, New York. After graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree and then a Master of Public Health degree from Columbia University, she spent 10 years working in the field of public health doing both research and public health education in the New York City area. Despite a satisfying career, she could no longer ignore her lifelong desire to work with animals and pursued a veterinary career. In 2009, she graduated with a DVM degree from Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine. After completing her veterinary degree, Dr. Cooperman completed a 1 year small animal internship at a specialty practice in the Rochester area and then spent two years working at a busy companion animal practice in Livonia, New York before joining Clark Animal Care in 2012. Her special interests include internal medicine, preventive medicine and pain management. Dr. Cooperman met her wonderful husband Paul, a music therapist and lifelong Rochesterian, while in veterinary school, and they have a delicious son, Russell, who was born in 2012. The three have nested in with their two Chihuahua/Terrier mixes, Javier and Ernesto, their cat, Luna, and their mischievous ferret, Lulu. Outside of her veterinary work, she enjoys kayaking, cooking and is trying to turn her brown thumb green with multiple home gardening projects. She also enjoys listening to a various types of music with her husband, especially when hes playing in the band.
