Veterinarian Overview
Dr. Sáez Negrón was born in Puerto Rico and spent her childhood between Puerto Rico and the South Bronx. In high school, she developed a love for biology and a passion for protecting and caring for animals. This was influenced by a caring high school biology teacher and her experiences growing up in impoverished areas of Puerto Rico and the Bronx. Dr. Sáez Negrón grew up in areas where veterinary services were seen as a luxury due to a lack of financial resources and education. Her passion for animals led her to volunteer at the NYC ASPCA as an adoption counselor, cat and dog socializer, foster caregiver, and a veterinary assistant for 6 years prior to veterinary school. For college, she attended SUNY Oswego where she majored in Zoology and minored in Chemistry. During college, she worked first as a kennel attendant and later as a veterinary technician in several animal hospitals. She also participated in a field study in the Brazilian Pantanal and volunteered at a wildlife rescue and rehabilitation center in Thailand. Dr. Sáez Negrón has also participated in several other domestic and international wildlife programs in New York, North Carolina, Florida, Brazil, Ecuador, Guatemala and Grenada. In addition, Dr. Sáez Negrón enjoys other areas of veterinary medicine such as internal medicine, surgery, behavior, preventive care, exotic medicine and, of course, helping pet parents get the best care for their pets.
