Veterinarian Overview
Dr. Melissa Sim has always had a passion for horses. Growing up in the giant city of Singapore, she tried to find ways to work with horses but there just werent that many around. Right before high school, she moved to Thailand, where she was finally close to a barn, so naturally she spent as much time there as possible. Melissa then went on to do her undergraduate degree at the University of California, Davis, where she rode on the dressage team and worked with horses in as many different settings as she could, including working on a horse rescue farm for a summer. These experiences solidified her desire to work with horses and she never looked back. She then went on to complete veterinary school at Purdue University, where she was very active in the equine club. Melissa is very excited to be spending her internship year working with the wonderful team at Oakencroft. She also obtained her equine veterinary acupuncture certification while in vet school, and is excited to be able to use this as an additional tool to help her patients. Her other professional interests include internal medicine and lameness, although she loves pretty much everything about equine medicine. Melissa moved out to New York with her horse Lily, and dog Willow. In her free time she enjoys traveling, riding, hiking, random craft projects, circus arts, and snowboarding.
