Veterinarian Overview
Dr. Leanna Hawkins studied Animal Science at Cornell University and received her BS in 2000. Following her undergraduate studies, she did an internship at the Syracuse Zoo and at Wolf Hollow Wildlife Rehabilitation center in the San Juan Islands. From there she entered Veterinary School at the University of Minnesota and received her DVM in 2005. After graduating from Vet school, she moved to Rochester, NY and started working at Penfield Veterinary Hospital. She has veterinary interests in small animal internal medicine, and wildlife medicine and conservation. Outside of the veterinary clinic, Dr. Hawkins enjoys outdoor activities such as biking and running, photography, and reading, as well as planning her upcoming wedding to fiance Scott, also a veterinarian. Dr. Hawkins also enjoys playing with her Border Collies Finn, Trinity, and Kyla, and her 6 cats, Donkey, Beckett, Neo, Naiobi, Kahluah and Bear. She hopes to someday have a farm with sheep, goats, and many other animals.
