Veterinarian Overview
At our practices, we provide the highest quality medicine by making sure our team members are our number one priority. Understanding their needs and concerns, and working with them to create a positive, professional environment, helps them to better care for their patients and educate their clients. By doing so, we create a great experience for everyone. Dr. Buteras primary focus is on acquisition of new veterinary hospitals. He is also responsible for developing relationships with hospitals as they transition into the Pet Partners family, and providing ongoing guidance in all aspects of operations. He also assists in the recruitment and mentoring of veterinary associates and staff, and oversees initiatives such as leadership training and team building. Dr. Butera works closely with our Chief Medical Officer in advancing veterinary medicine, offering regular opportunities for continuing education, and practice management to ensure that the client experience at all Pet Partners hospitals is second to none. He founded and is a member of the Pet Partners Medical Advisory Board. Dr. Butera received his BA degree from Fairfield University in 1972. After graduating from the University of Missouri Veterinary College in 1978, he developed a multiple veterinarian, small animal/equine medical, surgical and reproductive practice in Uxbridge, Massachusetts. At that time, he also served as an assistant professor in the medicine department at Tufts University Veterinary School teaching veterinary anesthesia. In 1999, Dr. Butera sold his business to Healthy Pet and joined the initial management team, where he assisted in recruiting hospitals for acquisition. Additionally, he served as the lead recruiter of veterinarians for the company. In 2000, he was appointed as Medical Chief of Staff for two different practice locations within the Company and was able to utilize his teaching and motivational skills to help mentor and develop young veterinarians. Dr. Butera has been both author and co-author on numerous veterinary publications, and was also awarded a position in Whos Who in Veterinary Medicine.
