Veterinarian Overview
Dr. Thompson received his Bachelors degree in Biology from SUNY Plattsburgh, where he also spent a year of postgraduate study in the area of diabetes. He completed his Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine at Cornell University in 1978, and joined Burrstone Animal Hospital in 1983 after being lured to Utica by his beautiful wife, Kathleen. He has a passion for nutrition and weight management in animals. When not working, he spends a considerable time in the outdoors: hiking, fishing, golfing and hunting. His daughter, Caitlin, is completing her PHD in clinical child psychology with an emphasis on pain management. His son, Michael (newly married), is currently using his Environmental Science degree as the Outdoor Director at a large environmental camp in Sandwich, MA (Cape Cod)
