Veterinarian Overview
Franciscan University of Steubenville, BA in Biology in 1990 The Ohio State University, DVM in 1995 With the exception of one year in the majestic mountains of Montana, Dr. Andrew Ellis was born and raised in Shawnee, Oklahoma. He was the youngest of three children. His mother taught French at the local university, and his father was a practitioner of mixed-animal veterinary medicine. Having grown up on a 159-acre farm, Dr. Ellis is no stranger to farm life. He traveled on many farm calls with his dad, and this greatly influenced his decision for a lifelong career. Dr. Ellis always knew that he wanted to work with animals in some capacity. He completed his undergraduate degree at Franciscan University in Steubenville, Ohio, and met his wife, Marika, there. Once married, the two of them ventured across the state to The Ohio State University where Dr. Ellis earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 1995. After graduation, Dr. Ellis gained experience as a racetrack veterinarian in New Jersey. This allowed him to contribute greatly to our equine division since he joined our practice in 1998. Dr. Ellis also enjoys bovine reproductive work and comparing notes with his dad on all the new technology that is offered to the veterinary field. Dr. Ellis lives in Willow Street with his wife and seven children (he often refers to them as "The Magnificent Seven"). They are active in their church, historic Saint Mary's, and enjoy hiking, canoeing, fishing, archery, and most things outdoor.
