She is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Pennsylvania Veterinary Medical Association, and the Western Pennsylvania Medical Association. She has a special professional interest in dermatology. Growing up in Elizabeth Township, Dr. Bender was an active 4-H member and horse showmanship competitor. Before becoming a veterinarian, she spent time volunteering at a local shelter and working in an animal hospital as an undergraduate. She says she never had any doubts about her desire to become a veterinarian. "The schooling was tough and expensive, but I wasn't going to let that stop me from becoming a veterinarian," she said. Dr. Bender is most satisfied when she can help her clients make the best decisions for their pet's overall health and well being. At home Dr. Bender has two French Bulldogs named Newton and Oscar and a cat named Oliver. She is in the office seeing patients on Monday and Wednesday.
