Veterinarian Overview
Dr. Richard Fondrk was born (and raised) in Jeannette, PA, in 1955. He graduated from Jeannette High School in 1973, where he was Class President, Student Advisory Council member, and a point guard for the Jayhawk basketball team that finished 22-2 in 1973. He graduated Summa Cum Laude from Penn State University in 1977, with a degree in Animal Science, with a 3.8 GPA. At Penn State, he was president of the Pre-Vet Club, treasurer of the Dairy Science Club, and an active member, and frequent champion. of many intramural and open basketball leagues. In 1982, he graduated with a Veterinary Medical Doctor degree from The University of Pennsylvania. From June, 1982 until the present, he has operated his own large animal practice full time, as well as working part time, in the small animal clinic of Dr. William Hope, West Newton, PAIn 1988, Dr. Fondrk married Sherri Ankney of Murrysville, and together they proudly have a son, Tyler born in 1990, and a daughter Tori born in 1992. Tyler presently works in Pittsburgh as actuary for Buck Consultants, and Tori is finishing up her last year at Penn State, hoping to get into Physicians Assistant School next year. The Fondrk's have 1 Bichon Frise (Roxie), and 4 Domestic Short hair cats (Pearl, Stubby, Omar, and Oreo). Dr Fondrk and his wife just celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary in August, 2013.In his spare time, Dr Fondrk enjoys playing and coaching basketball, playing golf, and playing live, or online, Texas Holdem Poker. He also enjoys music and concerts, mostly listening to current bands that play Indie and Alternative music. His play list is odd, but catchy. Above all, Dr. Fondrk enjoys his job as a veterinarian, and that is something he is very grateful for.
