Veterinarian Overview
Dr. Holmes, a New England native received her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Albertus Magnus College in New Haven, CT and obtained her doctorate of veterinary medicine from St. Georges University School of Veterinary Medicine. She relocated to Newport, RI in 2011 and has spent the last 5 years practicing general medicine in RI and providing relief work in CT.Dr. Holmes finds general practice rewarding and enjoys taking the time to get to know her patients and their pet parents. She practices low stress handling and wants each visit to be a positive experience for patients that builds on the human animal bond. Her goal is to partner with pet parents to provide the best possible care for patients during all life stages. She is a member of the Rhode Island Veterinary Medical Association and American Veterinary Medical Association. Her current veterinary interests include soft tissue surgery, dentistry, dermatology, pain management and ways that nutrition and holistic options can complement traditional treatments for chronic disease management.In her free time Mandy enjoys hiking with her dogs, traveling, cooking, yoga, reading and watching movies. She shares her home with her husband Joe (architect), rescue dog Chief (epileptic lone wolf) and foster failure Luna (demolitions expert).
