Veterinarian Overview
I am a Castro Valley local; my family moved here when I was only eight years old. Since I was little, I wanted to be a veterinarian, so that I could work with animals and solve their health problems. Throughout high school, I volunteered at Sulphur Creek Nature Center in Hayward, helping care for the resident animals and rehabilitate rescued animals to be released back into the wild. After graduating from Castro Valley High, I attended UC Berkeley, where I majored in Molecular Environmental Biology with an emphasis in Animal Health and Behavior. While at Berkeley, I was involved in research and later published a scientific paper investigating fungal infections in the endangered native mountain yellow-legged frog. My summers were spent working in local veterinary clinics. I attended UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine and graduated at the top of my class in 2009. After veterinary school, I completed a small animal medicine and surgery internship and then went on to work as a relief veterinarian at several Bay Area practices. In early 2012, I joined HillÂ’s Veterinary Hospital where I appreciate the opportunity to form long-term relationships with my patients and their people. While most of my patients are dogs and cats, I enjoy treating other small mammals, reptiles, and birds. I am also interested in sonography and internal medicine. When not at work, I spend time reading science fiction, gardening, exploring new places, and spending time with my fluffy cat Emily.
