My daughters brought our dog in because he was acting strange and wouldn’t sleep. This has happened in the past and turned out to be an inner ear infection. Dr. Deme looked at the ears and said they weren’t red, so they were not infected. He gave them a painkiller to help him sleep at night because he felt it may be anxiety. When they asked about the drug he was giving them, he stood in front of them and googled it. Well, the pill did not work! Two days later my daughter took him back to see Dr. Deme again, and asked if there were other tests or swabbing of the ears that he could do and he said no. She was told that the dog may have a neurological problem. My daughter insisted on him treating our dog for an inner ear infection. Although Dr. Deme fought her on it saying it’s not going to work because he claimed you would see redness if it was an ear infection, he ended up cleaning his ears and giving him antibiotic. Fast forward to that night, our dog finally acted normal and slept all night. My daughters were charged for both visits (totaling over $300) and it’s ridiculous that they had to diagnose the dog themselves. Also, kind of weird that they had to take the dog in another room to clean his ears and give him antibiotic and would not allow my daughter to be present. The bedside manner on this man is awful. The conclusion is, if we had listened to Dr. Deme, our dog would still be in pain and not sleeping (and neither would we). We will not be bringing our dog back there!!
Needs serious work on his bedside manner. I guess he missed the class on empathy because this guy has none. Just because you work with animals doesn’t mean you don’t have to know how to relate to their owners, especially when they are scared and distraught. He only managed to make me feel worse. Thanks a lot for the support and care during such a scary time for me and my pet…just awful
