Veterinarian Overview
Alan A. Burr was born in Santa Barbara, California, and grew up on the coast of San Luis Obispo County. After attending the University of California at Davis and the California Polytechnic Institute, he obtained his Bachelor's Degree in biology/veterinary science. Alan spent a year in New Zealand and Australia, gaining experience on sheep ranches, dairy farms, and horse racing stables. After spending a summer tagging salmon in Alaska, he attended the University of California at Davis where he earned his Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine and Master's in Preventive Veterinary Medicine (public health). Dr. Burr now works as a Veterinary Medical Officer for the California State Department of Food and Agriculture. In his spare time he is a singer-songwriter and plays with musician friends around the Bay Area.
