Veterinarian Overview
Dr. Laurie McKinney, DVM, has been a resident of Half Moon Bay, California since purchasing her general practice in 1996. Today, Half Moon Bay Veterinary Hospital is a well established practice, and Dr McKinney enjoys a long standing reputation in the community for her personal service and excellence in veterinary care. "Working in the same community for a number a years provides a view of practice that grows from working with animals from kitten hood and puppy hood through their senior years. It also requires developing and maintaining a rapport with one's clients. Half Moon Bay is a wonderful place to be a veterinarian". Growing up on a farm in New Jersey, working with animals was a given for Dr Mc Kinney but becoming a Vet was not. Her love of biology set her on a path that led her to Cal. State University at Long Beach where she studied marine biology. Gradually she reached the decision to pursue veterinary medicine and attended Univ. Calif. at Davis School of Veterinary Medicine from 1982-1986. After graduation, Dr Mc Kinney began her career in Lancaster, California. She later worked in Canyon County and Studio City, California before moving north to San Francisco. For the next four years she worked in general practice at a Veterinary Hospital in the beach side town of Pacifica where her work overlapped with the work of her employer, a specialist in oncology.
