Veterinarian Overview
Dr. Susan Bright-Ponte hails originally from Ohio, and joined Kenwood Animal Hospital in a part-time capacity in 2005. She graduated from the University of Missouri - Columbia College of Veterinary Medicine in 1993 magna cum laude and pursued a veterinary internship in nearby Washington, D.C. Since then she has primarily practiced locally. Dr. Bright-Ponte is employed full-time at the FDA's Center for Veterinary Medicine in the Division of Veterinary Product Safety, and in 2014 earned her Master's in Public Health degree with an emphasis in veterinary epidemiology. She is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the American Association of Feline Practitioners, DC Academy of Veterinary Medicine, and the Maryland Veterinary Medical Association. In her spare time Dr. Bright-Ponte and her husband enjoy traveling, outings at the National Zoo, attending professional sports events (she is a fan of baseball and hockey), concerts, movies and reading. They share their home with two cats: Ernie and Sunny.
