Veterinarian Overview
Dr. Englert is a small animal practitioner and the founder of White Oak Veterinary Clinic. He has been a practicing veterinarian since he earned his Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Pennsylvania in 1976.Dr. Englert grew up in McKeesport, Pennsylvania and attended the Pennsylvania State University for his undergraduate studies, earning a Bachelor's Degree in pre-veterinary animal science. After graduating from veterinary school, he returned to the area and worked as an associate veterinarian in a number of different practices. Dr. Englert's dream always was to open his own veterinary clinic and after several years of planning, he built and opened White Oak Veterinary Clinic in August 1981.What Dr. Englert enjoys most about being a veterinarian is being able to combine his love of animals with the ability to practice medicine and surgery. The variety of animals and different health concerns for each make every day a challenge and a continuous learning experience. White Oak Veterinary Clinic has recently added laser therapy to the menu of services. This newest technology of class IV laser has become a new option for treatment and of great interest to Dr. Englert. He believes the technology and the positive results of laser therapy for treating arthritis, wounds, sprains, and infections is an exciting new addition to the practice.Dr. Englert has had many pets over the years, including a black lab mix, Shade, who came to White Oak Veterinary Clinic as an injured stray. Shade lived a happy, full life for nine years, but unfortunately developed cancer. After six months of intensive treatment and surgeries, Shade passed away and is greatly missed by his family. Since then, Dr. Englert adopted another black lab named Maverick, who at eight years old immediately blended into the Englert household as if he had lived there all his life. When he is not working at the clinic, Dr. Englert enjoys swimming, biking, and skiing. He is an avid Penn State and Steeler fan.
